Existing within two cultures with differing expectations has taught me to navigate small cues, quiet moments, and the energy of a room. A memory is an experience we re-tell ourselves as a story. A snapshot not of what was, but what we perceived it to be. A print is not a perfect translation of the negative; it is itself also a re-telling of a snapshot of light from a fleeting moment, using new light.

This way of seeing has been formed by my existence as the first-generation daughter of Mexican immigrants. Analog and alternative processes allow my hands to bring physical form to these stories and translate something internal into something visual.

Acting as a photographer and printmaker I am bringing clarity to my work and I, slowly through time and repetition.
